The TTW-550 is a through-the-tank-wall, ultrasonic liquid level sensor. The device offers a clear advantage over traditional, invasive, mechanical sensors and gauges. This non-invasive design eliminates contact between the sensor and the fluid in the tank which eliminates all media compatibility and sterility issues. The TTW-550 utilizes Airmar’s patented processing that automatically selects the waveform best suited for the specific tank material and thickness, and provides continuous bottom-up liquid level detection.
The TTW-550 sensor transmits high-frequency sound from the transducer attached to the outside of the tank or vessel. This sound passes through the tank wall and through the fluid until it reaches the fluid surface. It is then reflected back to the transducer and is received as a transmit echo. The microcontroller times this reflection and reports the echo range delay and tank temperature to customers’ electronics via a serial data link.
